I haven’t seen much buzz abou this event but it’s definitely something to know about…it’s PRIDE ANTHEMS a live musical concert happening Friday, June 7th at Benaroya Hall. It’s NOT a locally produced event but part of a national tour from Pride Live and the Stonewall National Monument Visitors Center to raise money for the Stonewall center which opens this June.
The concert wil celebrate 50 years of popular LGBTQ+ pride anthems from many of our beloved artists like Donna Summer, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Queen and others. It features some terrific singers under the musical direction of Brian J. Nash and a very special guest star with the presence of John Cameron Mitchell, the much adored queer actor, singer, and co-creator of the very queer musical, “Hedwig & the Angry Inch”.
This tour will then travel up to Bellingham for a Saturday, June 8th concert at the gorgeous Mount Baker Theatre. (John will also be at this show!)

A bit more information down below:
Join us as we celebrate Pride Month with a journey through the past 50 years of pride anthems. From Donna Summer and Queen to George Michael, Erasure, Madonna, Lady Gaga and many others, these essential songs take us from disco to the present day. The story of the fight for LGBTQ+ equality is linked to this music, evoking the struggles, heartache and liberation of queer lives then and now.
Pride Anthems creates a vibrant musical experience that celebrates, inspires and commemorates the legacy and power of the Stonewall Riots and takes you on a musical and cultural journey through the past 50 years. Starring Amy Jo Jackson, Kevin Smith Kirkwood and Marty Thomas, with music director Brian J. Nash, Pride Anthems is a show designed for all ages to come together in song and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.
Pride Anthems is produced in partnership with Pride Live. A portion of the proceeds benefit Pride Live and the Stonewall National Monument Visitors Center (SNMVC) which will open in June 2024. Visit pridelive.org to learn more about Pride Live.
Pride Anthem is presented by the Seattle Symphony. The orchestra will not perform in this program.
