Rufus Wainwright: a few tickets still remain

March 6, 2008• bySeattle Gay Scene

Rufus Wainwright performs a very special solo concert at The Paramount Theatre on Thursday March 13.

Coming out while still in his teens, Wainwright sought solace in opera throughout his adolescent years, also becoming an enormous fan of performers including Edith Piaf, Al Jolson, and Judy Garland.

In 2007, Wainwright released both Release the Stars and Rufus Does Judy at Carnegie Hall. During some of his concerts last year he performed in full Judy Garland garb complete with red lipstick and stiletto heeled shoes. His song Gay Messiah talks about being reborn from 1970’s porn “Wearing tube socks with style.” He has recorded several movie sound tracks including Brokeback Mountain, I Am Sam, Moulin Rouge!, Shrek, Meet the Robinsons, The Aviator, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, Zoolander and many others.

Be sure to check out his NextNowNext review and videos from his show last year. There is so much I could say about Rufus Wainwright but so little time. This preview really does not do justice to his popularity and style…Just don’t miss this concert!
“Better pray for you sins, ‘Cause the gay messiah’s coming.”

Thursday March 13, 8 pm at The Paramount Theatre.
