Even as early as 11 pm the line to get into Cuff Complex extended down the block. This would be the beginning of a big night.
Inside, special guest DJ Kimberly S. proved why she is considered one of the best DJs in the country and kept the dance floor packed even until 3 am.
Later in the night, the line continued to build down 13th Avenue, over two blocks long, until it extended all the way down to Pike Street. With unexpected crowds the Cuff actually ran out wrist bands halfway through the night and proceeded to just stamp patrons as they entered the event. The staff came out to announce to the crowd trying to get in that they had reached capacity and it may be a long time before they would finally be able to enter.
Inside it was as packed as I have ever seen yet there were still pockets in the club were you could stand undisturbed. The crowd got younger as the night got later but still an interesting mix of men in full leather right alongside groups of twinks.
Just after 2 am some of the Cuff staff squeezed out onto the dance floor to hand out frozen Otter Pops to the heated crowd.
This event was even better than the Cuff’s popular Pride Street Party in June. If you missed Kimberly S. this time she will be back on June 28th, the night before Seattle Pride, and on November 1st for the Cuff’s Halloween Party.
Too bad I missed it…
Can you emphasize these big events a little more next time. 🙁
I thought I had but I will think about how I can make these big events stand out more.
