Design students at The Art Institute of Seattle are hard at work sketching and sewing one-of-a-kind fashion originals for the college’s annual student showcase, Underground Couture. This year’s fashion forward production will be at held Thursday, April 10, the Showbox Sodo, 1700 1st Avenue South.
This year’s show will showcase tomorrow’s designers with an edgy approach and fresh design esthetic. Following last year’s successful Streets of Fashion production, this year will mark the second coming of true one-of-a-kind fashion. Underground Couture will focus on ten designers presenting four to nine garment collections. Each collection promises to tell a unique and innovative story while burning up the runway. Additionally, Seattle’s fashion industry professionals will be on hand to present awards to students creating the top designs in six categories.
Underground Couture is being produced not only by fashion design and marketing students but also by many students representing the school’s photography, audio production and video production academic programs.
Underground Couture is at 5:00 pm or 8:00 pm. The first show provides an opportunity for high school students to explore the fashion industry. High school students will be admitted at no charge with valid school identification for the 5:00pm presentation. Tickets for both shows are available for $20.00 in advance through Ticketmaster or for $25.00 at the door.
