Seattle Men’s Chorus and McCaw Hall will have you “Falling in Love Again” as they examine gay life before and after the rise of Hitler.

The exhibit is open to the public and FREE March 30th through April 2nd at McCaw Hall at Seattle Center.

The Washington State Holocaust Education Resource Center presents Nazi Persecution of Homosexuals 1933-1945, on loan from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum on March 30th through April 3rd. We know the history of the World Wars through our history classes in high school. We grow to learn much more about the Holocaust and the Nazi’s as we get older. Starting March 30th through April 2nd at the Marion Oliver McCaw Hall at Seattle Center will sit the touring exhibition of Nazi Persecution of Homosexuals 1933-1945. This exhibit tells a little known story of the campaign of persecution against homosexuals in Germany. Denounced as “antisocial parasites” and as “enemies of the state,” more than 100,000 men were arrested under a broadly interpreted law against homosexuality. Through reproductions of some 250 historic photographs and documents, Nazi Persecution of Homosexuals 1933-1945 examines the rationale, means, and impact of the Nazi regime’s attempt to eradicate homosexuality that left thousands dead and shattered the lives of many more. The exhibit hours are Noon to 10pm on March 30th – April 2nd and Noon to 5pm on April 3rd.

The Holocaust Center brings this unique opportunity to Seattle to educate our community by using the lessons of the past. The Center challenges individuals to confront hatred, prejudice and indifference in our world. The exhibit will highlight the lives of men whose life experiences serve to teach us about the dangers of intolerance.

To make things even more enticing, on April 2nd and 3rd inside the McCaw Hall will be a Seattle Men’s Chorus concert. This concert, “Falling in Love Again“ features the talents of Morgan Smith (Baritone), Nick Garrison (Actor), David Pichette (Actor) and the Spectrum Dance Theater. This is going to be a richly varied concert that will be using music to powerfully highlight the lives of gay men in Germany (before and during the Nazi era). Act One will feature entertaining music by Kurt Weill, Kander and Ebb (Cabaret) and songs that iconic actress and singer Marlene Dietrich made popular. After intermission, you’ll be woo’ed by Jake Heggie’s For a Look or a Touch. This piece stars baritone Morgan Smith and is staged by Intiman Theatre’s Andrew Russell.
