Harmonix will be spinning tonight at Cuff Complex.
Ironically, one of my favorite DJs in Seattle is Portland native DJ Harmonix (pronounced – Här-mon’iks). One night at the Cuff I happened to pick up a CD sampling of his mixes. I took it home and popped it into my car’s CD player and was blown away by it. It had some awesome and unique remixes of a few classic hits alongside a remix of the theme song from Wicked and some other modern tunes. It sounded like a “Best of” remix yet every mix was brand new.
Just Circuit describes Harmonix as one of the top DJ’s in the Pacific Northwest
Spinning a combination of vocal house, circuit anthems, tribal house and high energy covers; DJ Harmonix is renowned for having a flair for the dramatic. He believes that dance floors should be flavored with drama, giving the crowd the ups and downs, the nuances that are true to life.
Recently, DJ Harmonix was spinning at the 2008 Winter Party in Miami, Florida along with DJ’s Brett Henrichsen and Manny Lehman. He also was the headliner for Portland’s popular Red Dress Party. Lucky for Seattle, he happens to be one of the regular rotating DJs at the Cuff.
The list of celebrities he has worked with in the box reads like a who’s who from the Circuit: DJ’s Kimberly S., Peter Calandra, Tracy Young, Wayne Sheppard, Chris Cox and many others along with performers such as Kristine W., Abigail, Martha Wash, and Amber just to name a few.
“Music is magic, I believe that a dance floor is much more than just beats and rhythms; it is a sacred place, where you can let go of your fears, open your heart and journey into the beyond!”
In August of last year, Harmonix came down with a serious ear infection, which according to the doctors, should have only lasted a month. However, the ear infection caused sudden loss of his hearing along with extreme vertigo making him bed ridden for two weeks and unable to move without getting dizzy. After 3 months of battling the infection, he was able to regain his balance but unfortunately he suffered an 85% hearing loss in his right ear.
The doctors don’t think I’ll regain my hearing….. I however, am confident that with some energetic reprogramming and a lot of deep Theta level meditations that I’ll beat what has occurred and regain my hearing. Anyone who knows what type of spiritual life I live, will agree. The good news, is that I can still spin my ass off. I just have to concentrate a little more to hear it all out of one ear.
Just Circuit describes the magic of Harmonix:
What works the magic for Harmonix? Try letting loose a barrage of emotional melodies and slamming drum rhythms, as he elevates you to beyond PEAK TIME, where the mood becomes darker, deeper and much more sensual. He loosens his grasp, but only long enough for you to catch your breath. Before you know it, he has seduced you back into the groove and empowers you to journey to the next level.
Harmonix will be spinning tonight Saturday April 26, at Cuff Complex starting at 10 pm until the wee hours of 3 am. Cover is only $4.
