Q&A for Parents of 11-14 y/o LGBTQ Youth
November 12, 2017 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm
Before we launch our new middle school-aged LGBTQ youth program (more on that below), we are inviting parents for a special Q&A with Lambert House staff and volunteers.
Executive Director Ken Shulman, Program Manager Brandon Knox, and Middle School Group Facilitators Claire Tierney and Honor Weihe will be presenting. By the end of the night, you will have seen and experienced Lambert House, meet other families, and learn together about ways to support your LGBT or questioning 11 to 14 year old.
Parking lot available behind the building, accessible via the alley from either E Denny Way or E Howell Street. Please come to the front door on 15th Avenue when you arrive.
Light refreshments provided.

Our New Program for Middle School-Aged (11-14 y/0) LGBTQ Youth
Middle School can be a confusing and turbulent time for students and their families. You may notice that your child is questioning, experimenting, and exploring who they are and what they care about. If they are also questioning their sexuality and/or their gender identity, adolescence can be all the more difficult. LGBTQ youth are at higher risk for social isolation, bullying, depression, drug use, and suicide. You can prevent some of this hardship by supporting your LGBTQ child and providing them with the resources they need to explore and be happy regardless of their developing identity.
Lambert House offers a safe and inclusive space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth to explore their identity, build self-esteem, and make friends with their peers. Lambert House also offers youth an opportunity to see successful LGBTQ adults navigating their lives and being active members in their community. By allowing Lambert House to be a part of your child’s life, you are effectively joining a team of people who support your child and want to see them succeed.
We are launching a new social-support group specifically for middle school-aged LGBTQ youth to explore their identity with youth their own age. This group is facilitated by LGBTQ adults who are passionate about helping youth have high self-esteem through: exploring their identity, making friends, undertsanding there is a place for them in the world, and being a part of a postiive communtiy. The group will take place at 7pm on Wednesdays, tentatively scheduled to launch later in October.
