Welcome to the new year 2011. What a wonderful year we have in front of us. I’m looking forward to new goals, friends, shows, and adventures. Hope to have you come along for the fun. I thought I would focus on new year resolutions. It seems every year I try to make a renewed effort to take better care of myself and this year is no exception. So for this blog I wrote about a healthy inspiration and something to make you smile. I also provided a healthy salad recipe (or not) from Betty Crocker.
The Italian and I have talked about updating the diet and including more veggies and salads and eating better to hopefully lose some of that extra holiday weight and belly fat. As a chunky kid growing up I always found myself looking for ways of losing the weight. I went out in search for different exercise routines, diets and plans. In my search, not only did I find several books as resources for exercise and diet, I found material that I could take back into my room and ogle at. These books provided step by step exercise instructions along with complete picture fantasies that I could look at for hours without my parents suspecting anything. I remember finding one such book back in high school. I was wondering through the WaldenBooks in the local mall and came across this amazingly attractive cover in the self help section. I remember my heart racing as I reached for the book to see what was inside. The cover featured an amazingly hot man with rock hard abs doing sit ups on the beach. The book was called Working Out by Charles Hix. I quickly saved up money from my part time job at Burger King so I could go to WaldenBooks and buy myself a hardback copy of it. When I finally got it home I have to admit I did not read much of it but, oh my, I used it regularly. It provided hours of amazingly hot entertainment looking at all these perfect men photographed by high fashion photographer Ken Haak.
Looking at the book now as I am older I see Working Out is still a great reference book and actually it is very well written. It really focuses on some great hints on dressing, coordination of outfits, personal hygiene and great exercise routines. All of this sprinkled with lots of eye candy for the gay man in all of us. Still to this day, when ever I think of going to the gym and getting back into the routine of working out the extra bonus of eye candy makes the trip that much more worth it. Thanks Mr Hix for showing me the way.
