Hmmmm….that’s a long ass headline, but there’s SOOOOOOO much to choose from tonight, Saturday, February 26.
Lady Loving Ladies and their allies can get their monthly “Cherry” popped at Re-bar tonight starting at 10pm with DJ’s Amateur Youth and Valentine. Sounds sweet…and tart.
The writing group “Bent” celebrates its Tenth Birfday and honors its founder/leader Tara Hardy with a big blowout at Washington Hall, 153 14th Avenue, (Note: that’s over nearish to Seattle University/Little Saigon just a couple blocks from 12th Avenue and Yesler. ) They’ll be spoken word performances, an auction, refreshments and FUN! Doors open at 6:30pm.
Everyone loves Century Ballroom in the Oddfellows Building at 10th and Pine on Capitol Hill. Who hasn’t had at least ONE good time there in that beautiful space, dancing the night away? They turn 14 tonight and they’re having a big bash starting at 7pm. Tons of special guests will be on hand, including Cherdonna & Lou, La’Twon Allen, NW Tap Connection, Dance Belt and Sister Kate among many others. Come feel the love…and the calluses on their feet.
Do you enjoy the sight of cute men in Speedos? The smell of suntan lotion? Lots of booze? Then head to the Seattle Eagle for a Swimsuit Party with the Orcas Swim Team. They’ll be serving Jell-O shots to raise funds, and avoiding (doubtfully) the many gropes and pinches they’ll be getting all night long. Bulging Lycra clad baskets and gelatin snacks…what more could you ask for?
Things are also sporty at Broadway Grill as they host a party for the softball team, The Inferno in an event they are calling “Glamuary”. Expect lots of drag queens throwing a lot of shade in an effort to win the big $250 prize for the Drag Walk Off.
If you need an old movie fix and it’s been at least six months since you watched it at home, then head to SIFF Cinema at Seattle Center for tonight’s “Mommie Dearest Quote Along” to experience 200 homosexuals all screaming such immortal lines as “I’m not mad at you, I’m mad at the dirt!”, or, “This isn’t my first time at the rodeo, boys…”, and of course, “Christina, bring me the AXE!” Personally, I think this film is brilliant and Faye Dunaway gives an amazing Kabuki performance, which she has subsequently disowned. Then again, she’s TURNED into Crazy Joan, so it’s sort of understandable…And, I’ll be with you in spirit; I’ll be upstairs in McCaw Hall at Seattle Opera’s “Don Quixote”. Maybe, I’ll pop down and say hi at one of the 4 intermissions.
Finally, if crazy late night fringe theater is your bag, then head to Open Circle Theater tonight in Belltown for their take on CSI: Miami. Join the divinely inspired Craig Trolli and Company as OCTV rips apart the irritatingly pretentious David Caruso and his Julliard trained sun glasses. The fun starts at 10pm and it’s Pay What You Can but be generous…wigs and make up are expensive!
