Stuff To Do: Friday, July 29: Xanadu, of course, but there’s also Comeback Summer Beach Party and Alexis Mateo at R Place!

July 29, 2011• bySeattle Gay Scene

Another day/evening of endless entertainment options...Of course, your FREE option is Three Dollar Bill’s Outdoor Cinema screening of everyone’s favorite roller disco musical, XANADU with the one and only Olivia Newton John in Cal Anderson Park starting around 9pm. Bring a blankie, some snacks, (no booze, though!) and all your friends and come EARLY to enjoy live DJ music from 12 HR Notice and Shameless DJ’s Recess, Levi Clark + Joe Bellingham prior to the screening at dusk. Yes, now we WILL be, in Xanadu…

If Free outdoor, family fun ain’t so much your thing, (or, you have the movie memorized by now, with your constant at home screenings) you can always check out Comeback’s Summer Beach Bottom Blow Out!  at Chop Suey. Yeah, Comeback did a thing for Block Party last weekend, but they work hard and they play hard and they’re back for their regularly scheduled night at the “Chop” with resident DJ’s Porq and Colby B. and special guests, Dee Jay Jack, DJ Transport and a special LIVE performance from Ben DeLaCreme. And, despite the presence of the word “Bottom” in the event’s name, we are assuming that “Tops” are welcome to attend the function as well and it’s not just limited to the city’s many Pass Around Party Bottoms…(You know who you are…)

Drag-O-Philes (Folks who love drag; a Drag-O-Phobe would be someone who HATES drag…just educatin’ the masses…) have the option of checking in at R Place and the Seattle Premiere of one of the four “RuPaul’s Drag Race” contestants who HAVEN’T played Seattle…Season Three’s final three finalist, the pride of Puerto Rico (via Tampa, Florida) the one and only Queen of Bam, Alexis Mateo is beaming onto the stage at R Place for shows Friday and Saturday night. Join one of our favorite contestants and a bevy of local beauties including  Lady Chablis, Sharon Huzbenz, DonnaTella Howe, Monica Duvall, Jinkx Monsoon, and La Saveona Hunt for a night of pure chewing satisfaction…no, that’s Wrigley’s gum. Regardless, it will be tasty fun for the entire family…or, those in the family over the age of 21.
