Sad news to report. We’ve heard from more than one source that beloved Capitol Hill bar and restaurant, Rosebud, has lost its battle with its landlord and will be closing, possibly by Saturday.
We have a call into the Rosebud trying to get confirmation, or denial, of this story.
If you remember, Capitol Hill Seattle ran a story a month ago about the ongoing issues between Rosebud and its landlord with one of the owner’s Todd Nordahl quoted as saying:
“The Rosebud is not going anywhere,” he tells CHS.
Neither person we spoke with has the official authorization to confirm this rumor, and hopefully it’s not true, but we’ll keep you posted.
UPDATE: That was fast…I shouldn’t have sat on the story for the last 20 minutes worrying whether or not I should run it….Capitol Hill Seattle has the OFFICIAL word that Rosebud is indeed closing on Sunday, September 25. From the Rosebud Press Release:
Sadly, Rosebud will be closing its doors this Sunday, September 25th after our brunch at 3pm. In the meantime, we have lots of fun and laughs planned and hope you can tell your friends to stop on by over the next six days to bid a fond farewell and let us entertain you here at this location. Although we plan a new venue in the next few months, it won’t have quite the same charm everyone has known here in this location for many, many years.
As we part, please come in for the memories, love and care we’ve all shared here in this special spot.
