Obviously, things are a bit quieter for today, Sunday, Day Three of the four day long Halloween 2011 weekend but there ARE options for spooky fun including “Llorona” at Neighbours, some spicy Latin scary fun at Neighbours put on by Entre Hermanos; the burly-q inspired “Homoween” at The Wildrose; and another benefit starring The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence-Abbey of St. Joan at Purr, “Nuns Go Bump in the Night XIII”, this time raising funds for Breast Cancer research. Check out the calendar for tonight AND tomorrow down below.
Meanwhile, many of us are recovering from the one-two punch of Friday and Saturday night excesses. Mr. Sterling stayed home with his pussy and a Roku full of Dr. Who and Mr. Strangeways avoided the madness of the Pike/Pine “wormhole” (term snagged from Mr. A.A. Caldwell) and went to two house parties…House party #1 featured mostly grownups in the late 30’s to late 40’s range, (and one adorable 4 year old), few costumes, large amounts of delicious homemade food and an annual viewing of the Karen Black classic, “Trilogy of Terror”.
House party #2 was quite a bit different as it was presented by twentysomethings largely FOR twentysomethings and starred Jinkx Monsoon, Secret Shoppers and some other performers; there was NO food and the booze ran out by 12:30am. It also featured a much larger cast than party #1; at the height of the party there were well over a hundred people crammed into a not very large house, spilling out into the yard and street. My costume, “Jinkx Monsoon’s Grandma” (or Tranma if you prefer) was well received, though most people though I was a dessicated Stevie Nicks… I chit-chatted (ie, gossiped) with people I knew and heard some rather pleasant dish; made some new friends; and, was legitimately felt up on at least one occasion, (and, illegitimately many times in the crowded kitchen.) Fun was had by all and photo/video proof of the fun could be up soon… I also learned some valuable lessons:
1) Don’t buy cheap eye make-up…at one point I thought I was going blind.
2)If you buy nail polish, you also need to buy nail polish REMOVER.
3)It’s lovely to dress up, but it’s even lovelier to come home and take it all off.
Check out today’s Calendar and continue to play safely:
