Here’s the skinny on the three AbFab specials: The first two will air at Christmas on BBC One with the third one airing closing to the 2012 London Olympics. Haven’t heard when they will air in the US but both BBC America and LOGO are co-producers and the shows will air on both networks. We’re guessing/hoping they will air close to the UK air dates.
In Special #1:
In the first of three new episodes written by and starring Jennifer Saunders, with Joanna Lumley, Julia Sawalha, Jane Horrocks and June Whitfield, there’s an awful lot of catching up to do.
First of all there’s a homecoming for one of them who’s been ‘away’ for quite some time. She arrives at the Monsoon household with a new – slightly scary – best friend. Her presence could be either a blessing or a disaster, raising questions of identity that could even involve a certain person owning up to her real age … if she can remember it.
Warning: A Royal Wedding is re-enacted by Bubble.
Here’s the plot for the second Christmas Special:
Edina has some crucial questions to answer, including: Has she still got it? And could a new client destroy her relationship with Saffy or make it stronger?
With fewer and fewer clients and a daughter who despises her, it’s business as usual but, when Eddy and Patsy meet a famous French film star whom Saffy hugely admires, Eddy hopes that the job of taking her on as a client could bring a new-found respect, and some much-needed income.
The problem is that her client’s talents aren’t everything they seem to be…
Warning: Edina Monsoon sings.
Here’s the new clip:
I dunno, Sweeties…that clip wasn’t very funny…Twitter jokes? Jokes about Eddy’s clothes? Really? Been there, done that and that outfit isn’t very strange. (Side note: have you noticed when you watch the early episodes with Eddy’s extreme fashion, that it doesn’t look that shocking now? Her crazy looks were forward looking…now, lots of people dress like that…)
And, I’ll be the dick…we LOVE Jane Horrocks, but she is getting too old to play Bubble. It’s cute to see a 30something play a nitwit, but it starts to look sad when you’re pushing 50. They should have least changed Bubble’s style; that’s all Bubble is about, is her kooky, flare for bizarre forward fashion. But, it needs to be a more mature looking, and less ditzy baby doll. (And, the wig/hair is horrible). And, who knew Jane was so tall? She’s a big, cornfed girl! That, or the rest of the cast is tiny.
As I’ve said, love AbFab but nervous it should have left well enough alone…we’ll see…and, we’ll still watch.
