New Voices 12 is just the cure for the Boxing Day blues.

December 20, 2011• bySeattle Gay Scene

New Voice's 12 producer Brandon Ivie sent over this picture of Anthony Fedorov thinking it might have appeal to some of our readers. Yes, we admire Mr. Fedorov's...singing talent.

In the US, the day after Christmas can be a bit blue…you get that post Xmas let down. Well, that and exhaustion. Well, that and you’re sick of your family. Well, that and you have indigestion. In the UK and other Commonwealth countries, they have “Boxing Day” which seems to involve more eating/drinking and the watching of television specials. We don’t really have that in the US; we just return shit we don’t like to the store and buy shit drastically marked down. If going to the mall isn’t an option, then we might suggest heading to ACT and checking out Brandon Ivie’s bi-annual “New Voices” show.

New Voices is pretty self-explanatory. Young (mostly) area theater artists/singers singing new and new-ish theater music in a concert setting and hosted by producer/wunderkind Brandon Ivie. If you like cute young actors singing some cute new songs, then New Voices is just the ticket for your holiday blues. Here’s some of the talent involved for New Voices 12:

The concert will be led by former Elphaba in Wicked Vicki Noon (Mamma Mia!, Village Theatre’s Annie Get Your Gun), American Idol finalist Anthony Fedorov (The Fantasticks Off-Broadway, Joseph… at The 5th Avenue Theatre), Footlight Award-winner Ryah Nixon (9 to 5 national tour, Meet Me In St. Louis at Village Theatre), Jennifer Paz (Broadway’s Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Cinderella at The 5th Avenue Theatre), Gregory Award-nominee Billie Wildrick (Guys & Dolls, Saving Aimee), Jessica Skerritt (Village’s Chasing Nicolette, Stunt Girl), Kirsten deLohr Helland (5th Ave’s Oklahoma!, SMT’s The Pajama Game), and Joshua Carter (ACT Theatre’s Mary Stuart, Das Barbecu) as well as fringe favorite Kate Jaeger (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, ArtsWest’s Evil Dead). Returning as music director will be Gregory Award-winner R.J. Tancioco (Village’s Annie Get Your Gun, 5th Ave’s upcoming RENT) and the host/curator is Contemporary Classics artistic director and Gregory Award-winner Brandon Ivie (5th Avenue’s Cinderella).

That’s a lot of talent. New Voices almost always sells out, so get your tickets HERE and get them NOW.

Here’s a video from New Voices 10 with the AWESOME Kate Jaeger singing “I’m Not Pregnant” by Katie Thompson…it’s fricking hilarious.
