When Divas Collide: Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel heading to The Paramount…Separately

February 29, 2012• bySeattle Gay Scene

Both the Green Witch and the Good Witch are heading to Seattle this spring...

Fans of the Broadway musical “Wicked” and the television show “Glee” might not tent out their pants (well, the dudes anyway…) at the hot news from Seattle Theatre Group and The Paramount Theatre: Broadway legendary divas and former “Wicked” co-stars Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel are heading to Seattle in the coming months…in separate appearances.

Ms Menzel starred as Elphaba and snagged the Tony Award away from Ms Chenoweth who played the crowd pleasing role of  Glinda and rumor has it, the two were not the best of friends during the long run of “Wicked”. It’s also interesting to note that both actresses went on to hugely popular guest star roles on the hit show “Glee”, but never at the same time. The poo is, you don’t invite these two ladies to the same event, or, at least don’t seat them near each other. Vicious gossip? Blatant sexism? Perhaps…since there are PLENTY of male actors who feud with one another as well. But, no one cares when dudes get snippy with each other…unless they’re gay…

Kristin Chenoweth hits town first, on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 for a 7:30pm show and tickets are already on sale. Her new TV show, “GCB” begins airing this week…will it be her first big TV hit? Her previous show, “Pushing Daisies” was a critical favorite but got axed after two seasons…”GCB” was originally titled “Good Christian Bitches” and is a “Desperate Housewives” -ish look at some conniving church women in a Texas mega church…it sounds kind of potentially awesome.

Idina Menzel hits Seattle about a month later, on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 8pm and also at The Paramount. Tickets should be on sale soon. The surprise Tony winner for “Wicked” (Chenoweth was favored to win), Ms Menzel is also famous for her break out role in the original cast of “Rent”…where she met her ridiculously hot husband, actor Taye Diggs. In addition to her guest appearances on “Glee” as Rachel’s birth mother, Menzel also reoccurs on her husband’s show, “Private Practice”.

Broadway fans will want to check out both of these shows…both ladies have GORGEOUS voices.

But, we wonder if Kristin will leave some sort of dark message for Idina in the bowels of The Paramount’s dressing rooms…a Zuni fetish doll, perhaps? A whoopie cushion? Itching Powder in the bidet?
