Not Just Another Pretty Face- Lobby Hosts Cocktail Challenge

March 1, 2012• byBill Gray

I can’t tell you how many times people ask me if I make more tips with my shirt on or off.  Sure, our eyes are drawn to that pretty bartender with the sexy smile and eyes to die for, but can he make a delicious creation that will have us returning for more?  What we tend to forget is that bartending is a skill not easily acquired.  Crafting the perfect cocktail is something that takes in depth knowledge of ingredients and chemistry.  I always give the hot bartender a shot at making my palette squirm with anticipation, but in the end, I go to the bartender who consistently makes me wet.

There is a lot of talent in our community.  Now, there is a chance to show us what your made of and win a trip to Palm Springs, CA! At the Lobby Bar on March 8, bartenders will compete and create their own signature Palm Springs-infused cocktail, and will be evaluated on taste, presentation and name. The bartenders will also be judged on creativity and attire, as well as presentation and audience participation. Contestants will receive bonus points if “Palm” or “Springs” is in the name or recipe of the signature drink. Club attendees will receive Palm Springs swag including free hotel stays or a trip to the Cocktail Challenge finale in Palm Springs.

Attend a Cocktail Challenge and You Could Win Big!

  • A 2-night hotel stay in Palm Springs will be given away at each and every event
  • Palm Springs-branded under apparel and tank tops
  • Cool giveaways from our generous sponsors
  • Enter the GayCities travel sweepstakes where one lucky winner will win a trip to Palm Springs for the grand finale of the Cocktail Challenge on May 31!

Any bartender in our community can enter this challenge.  Make sure you bring your fans to cheer for you.  Be creative!  Remember, Stoli is the sponsor.  Hint.  The competition runs from 8pm to 11pm on Thursday March 8TH.

I suggest each bar in our community nominate their best bartender to represent them in this challenge.  This is a fun, competitive way to enjoy a night of community.  I, however, will not be on-hand that evening due to a prior engagement, but I may sneak away to unleash a pink drink on the judges. Check out the official website for the rules http://www.palmspringscocktails.com/
