It IS Monsoon Season in Seattle!

Well, we might as well give up and just retitle this site, “Monsoon Gay Scene”…it would certainly get us more web traffic. Keeping track of Our Jinkx is frankly a full time job…our little winner of Season Five of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” is busier than a truck store whore on Aurora. (Lookin’ at chu, Honey Bucket…) Ms Monsoon is all over the country performing at a vast array of venues, and even gettin’ herself some classy gigs like this last weekend’s performance at the GLAAD Awards in San Francisco where she brought the house down with her own special rendition of Sondheim’s “Ladies Who Lunch” from “Company”. Check it out:

We’re also tardy on posting new installments in the “Drag Becomes Him” documentary series that Jinkx is doing with local filmmaker Alex Berry. Mainstream media has even started paying attention to the series of short docs about Jinkx and her journey to superstardom with lovely write-ups in The Huffington Post. Check out the latest one, “World on Fire”.

Seattle fans of the Monsoon will have NUMEROUS opportunities to check out their favorite Queen of Drag in the coming weeks. Of course, you can always try and catch her at LeFaux, the Friday/Saturday night drag show at Julia’s on Broadway, but she’s not not appearing there weekly anymore so check their Facebook page to see if she’s scheduled to perform.

Jinkx and her musical partner, Major Scales, aka Richard Andriessen are heading to NYC for a nearly sold out run in July of their retro variety act, “The Vaudvillians”.  But, they’re going to give their Seattle fans a chance to check out the show on Sunday, June 2, 2013 with TWO performances at 7:30pm and 9:30pm. It’s also a fundraiser for Jinkx’s alma mater, Cornish College of the Arts, and it’s being held in Cornish’s new theater space at Seattle Center, the former theater known as The Intiman. Tickets still available for both shows at Brown Paper Tickets.

For folks on a budget, you have a FREE option to see Jinkx…she’s performing at a party for Balagan, the Seattle theater company that cast Jinkx’s alter ego Jerick Hoffer in “Spring Awakening” and “Hedwig & The Angry Inch”. Balagan is hosting a huge preview party on Monday, June 10, 2013 at The Moore Theater featuring musical performances from Balagan’s upcoming 2013/14 series of shows, including “Les Miserables”, “Carrie: The Musical”, “Jerry Springer: The Opera” and “A Very Merry Unauthorized Children’s Scientology Pageant”. PLUS, Balagan will be announcing the name of their 5th show for the season. Ms Monsoon will be performing (what, we do not know, but we know she has a Les Miz song or two up her sleeve…) and there will be a raffle and a chance to buy season subscriptions at a bargain price. SQUEE! Again, it’s free to the public but if you want GOOD seats, send them an email!

More musical theater magic happens a bit later in June when Jinkx/Jerick will perform as Velma Von Tussle in the 5th Avenue Theater/Seattle Men’s Chorus production of “Hairspray In Concert” June 20th through the 23rd. Yes, she’s a “villain” but you get to hear her belt out “Miss Baltimore Crabs”! Tickets available over here.

We’ve already written a lot about Jinkx being the headliner at “Gender Blender” on Friday, June 28th, the Nark Magazine Pride Party at Neighbours that also features Mykki Blanco, Alaska Thunderfuck and a host of other divas. Get those tickets HERE!

AND, FINALLY, Jinkx is returning to the cast of her friend Ben DeLaCreme’s annual 4th of July extravaganza, “Freedom Fantasia” at The Triple Door. The very gay burlesque tribute to all things patriotic from BenDeLa, Lou Henry Hoover and Kitten LaRue is back for the third year and you can expect a lot of apple pie, flag waving,  puppetry and naughty production numbers. It’s SWELL! Tickets for the 4 shows which run July 3, 5 and 6 are available over at The Triple Door website.

Jesus…that’s a lot of Jinkx news…I feel like her press agent.

I’m sending her a bill for services rendered…I KNOW she’s got the money now…

Oh, and you can check out her out of town calendar over at her website. Gurlfriend is selling MERCH, too. She’s a smart queen!
