$3 Bill Reschedules Outdoor Screening Of “Galaxy Quest”…Plus, YOU Can Be In A Trailer!

August 13, 2013• bySeattle Gay Scene
Our favorite Sigourney Weaver stars in "Galaxy Quest" one of the free $3 Bill Cinema outdoor screenings at Cal Anderson Park, on Friday August 23.

Our favorite Sigourney Weaver stars in “Galaxy Quest” one of the free $3 Bill Cinema outdoor screenings at Cal Anderson Park, on Friday August 23.

Sadly, Three Dollar Bill Cinema had to postpone one of their Summer Outdoor Cal Anderson Park screenings earlier this month. It was rainy on Friday, August 2nd so they called off their much anticipated screening of “Galaxy Quest”,  the funny sci-fi spoof of “Star Trek” and the world of Trekkies that stars Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver and Alan Rickman. Fortunately, they were able to reschedule the event, so it’s now gonna happen on Friday, August 23, 2013 and will wrap up this year’s four film series which has the theme of “I Need A Hero!”.  The previous “wrap up film” was going to be “Conan The Destroyer” with the Arnold and Grace Jones…it’s still happening THIS Friday, August 16, 2013. Remember that the FREE screenings all start just after dusk, usually around 8:30pm to 9pm but it’s wise to get there EARLY to secure a prime viewing location. More poo:

This is a smoke-free event. Bring low-backed chairs or blankets for seating, please.

Hot popcorn, cold drinks, candy and other concessions for sale on site. Limited lawnchair rentals available. Proceeds benefit Three Dollar Bill Cinema’s efforts throughout the year to provide voices and visibility for the LGBT community through film and video.

There’s an extra benefit if you show up early for this Friday’s “Conan” screening. Three Dollar Bill will be filming for their trailer for this year’s “Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival” which opens on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the Cinerama with the Seattle premiere of the Divine documentary, “I Am Divine”. The 18th annual festival runs until October 20, 2013 and a wealth of info about the line-up will be announced next month.

Meanwhile, if you have a hankering to be a star, then prepare to get “BOLD” and you can be in this year’s trailer. Here’s the skinny on dat:

We want YOU to appear in the trailer for the 18th Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival.
The shoot happens Friday, Aug 16th between 6PM – 9PM, at the Cal Anderson Park Shelter House (before the Outdoor Cinema starts).

Invite your friends and family to come as well! With “BOLD IS BEAUTIFUL” as our guide, we’re looking for volunteers of all ages, genders, orientations, and ethnicities to exemplify that theme.
Show it in what you wear, in your attitude,…by just being who you are!
We’ll film one person (or two) at a time for just a few minutes, so it’s a quick & easy way to be a star!

FRIDAY, AUG 16 – between 6PM and 9PM, Cal Anderson Park at the Shelter House
To RSVP or ask questions, email: trailer@threedollarbillcinema.org
(if you can’t be there Friday, please ask about the backup shoot on Saturday from 10AM-1PM)

Yes, it’s your chance to be a STAR!

And, if you need further encouragement, a certain Miss Jinkx Monsoon starred in a SLGFF trailer and look what happened to her!!!
