Mr. Strangeways has been glued to his computer every day this week from about noon to 2pm as Theater Puget Sound announces the nominees for the 2012/2013 Gregory Awards honoring excellence in Seattle Theater. They’ve announced the design categories and the best supporting actor performances earlier this week, and today (Thursday, August 8) they’re releasing the nominees for best actor and actress in a leading role in both musical and non-musical productions. They kicked off today with the Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical category and we’re just delighted that our Jerick Hoffer, aka RuPaul’s Drag Race Season Five winner Jinkx Monsoon has been nominated for his role as Hedwig in Balagan’s January production of “Hedwig & The Angry Inch”.

TPS is slowly releasing the nominees on the Gregory Awards Facebook page. So far, Mr. Hoffer’s fellow nominees are his co-star from last year’s production of “Rent” at the 5th Avenue, Brandon O’Neill for his role as the Pirate King in the 5th Avenues’s just concluded run of “The Pirates of Penzance”; Timothy McCuen Piggee as Billy Flynn in Village Theater’s production of “Chicago”; and, Heathcliff Saunders as Princeton in Balagan’s production of “Avenue Q” from last fall.

Check out all the nominees on Facebook. Best Play, Musical and Director are announced tomorrow, Friday, August 9. Tickets for the actual Gregory Awards ceremony, happening October 28, 2013 at The Neptune are available at the Theatre Puget Sound website.

Congrats to ALL the nominees! (But we’re rooting for Jerick…)
