Where To See Jinkx & BenDeLa For The Holidays

December 11, 2013• bySeattle Gay Scene

BenJinkx

I don’t know WHY we just don’t change the name of this digital rag to “Jinkx/BenDeLa Gay Scene”….that’s ALL we write about!!!

Of course, it ‘s because they’re the ONLY interesting people in this one cow town…

KIDDING!!! Love ALL of you losers!!! Mwah!

Anyway, y’all want to know where our most successful drag queens will be this holiday season…fortunately, they seem to be sticking fairly close to home for much of it and thankfully, both Ms Monsoon and Ms…Creme are together in one show: DeLouRue’s HOMO FOR THE HOLIDAYS now in its big SIXTH season and once again back in the West Hall at Oddfellows, 915 East Pine Street. If you’ve been dumb enough to miss it the last few years, HOMO is the delightful holiday tradition created by Ben DeLaCreme and her partners Lou Henry Hoover and Kitten LaRue with special appearances by Faggedy Randy, ilvs strauss, Cherdonna Shinatra, Bo Mellinger, and Inga Ingenue PLUS the dynamic duo of Jinkx Monsoon and Major Scales. It’s a helluva lot of faggedy Yuletide fun and you really should go.

Of course, between the show itself getting to be very popular and two of its stars getting to be very popular, it’s now really hard to get tickets…the show opens Thursday, December 12 and performs 17 times…and, many of those performances are already SOLD OUT! In fact, the entire opening weekend is filled up! There are tickets available for NEXT week’s shows beginning on Wednesday, Dec 18 and running all the way through Xmas Eve, December 24 but don’t dawdle. Availability is getting to be very limited! HURRY!!!

You also need to be aware that the lovely Ms Monsoon is AWOL for the performances from Wed the 18th through Sunday the 22nd. The VERY talented Scott Shoemaker will be filling her for her on those dates; fans of Re-bar’s Brown Derby shows are familiar with Mr. Shoemaker; he’s a comic treasure who knows how to belt out a tune! Definitely go check him out! (And, for diehard Monsooniacs, your Jinkxy will be back for the shows on Mon the 23rd and closing night on Xmas Eve on the 24th….)

Major Scales and Jinkx Monsoon get "Unwrapped" at The Cornish Playhouse on Sunday, Dec 15.

Major Scales and Jinkx Monsoon get “Unwrapped” at The Cornish Playhouse on Sunday, Dec 15.

But, wait….there’s MORE news! Jinkx and Major Scales have been wowing NYC with their hit off off Broadway show The Vaudevillians and they’ve just debuted a special holiday show called “Unwrapped” at their NYC theater base at The Laurie Beechman Theatre and they’ll be presenting that show for two very special performances this coming Sunday, December 15th at The Cornish Playhouse at Seattle Center (formerly The Intiman Theatre at 201 Mercer Street). Tickets are still available for both the 2pm and the 7pm show and both performances are a fundraiser for Jinkx and the Major’s alma mater, Cornish College of the Arts. Get tickets HERE!

FINALLY, your last option in December to see Jinkx and BenDeLa together on one stage, will require a road trip…to Portland. The two will be headlining HELLO/HELLO at Rotture on Friday, December 27.  Here’s more info:

That’s a lot of Jinkxin and BenDeLay’n for one month…but, enjoy it while you can locals…Jinkx and Major Scales have an Australian Tour coming up plus a summer in Provincetown. And, Miss BenDeLa will be increasingly busy with out of town gigs once Season 6 of RPDR gets underway in February.
