Seattle Theatre Group, the lovely proprietors and curators of The Paramount, The Moore and The Neptune theaters announced their 2014/2015 subscriber series and while there are many treats on their upcoming line-up, two of the announcements made us wet our pants in a gleeful sort of way…
The Big Seat Wetter: DAME EDNA EVERAGE returns to Seattle for a stop on her international Farewell Tour!!
Yes, possums…your favorite gladdy waving Grande Dame of International Drag Awesomeness, DAME EDNA EVERAGE returns to The Emerald City from January 15 – 18, 2015 at The Moore Theatre, the same venue she visited a few years back and the same venue she made merciless fun of…”The INTIMATE little Moore Theater”. The lovely Dame Edna and her creator Barry Humphries shocked the world last year with the announcement of their respective retirements, but the 80 year old Humphries wants to go out on a high note. He’s already paid his farewells in his native Australia (though we suspect the very final leg of the tour will sweep through his homeland one more time…) and in the UK and the US/Canada will see Dame Edna and Humphries bid us adieu over the course of the next few months, including an already announced stop in Los Angeles.
More on the Dame Edna Farewell:
“It’s the end of an era,” cries the London Daily Telegraph, but BARRY HUMPHRIES and his most famous creation DAME EDNA EVERAGE aren’t going out with a whimper. They’re going out with a rapid-fire explosion of convulsive laughter and cheers.
On the pink and purple high heels of the pair’s sold-out seasons across the UK and Broadway, Australia’s greatest entertainment export returns for more take-no-prisoners comedy and hijinks, and no one in the audience is safe from the Dame’s wicked tongue. You dare not miss the spectacular side-splitting historic finale of BARRY HUMPHRIES and global gigastar DAME EDNA EVERAGE celebrating a 50-year career of sold-out venues, command performances for the Royal Family, television specials and around-the-world tours.
The other big gay treat is the return of Dame John Waters who will return in December of this year for another stop at The Neptune and a return visit to his frequently performed “A John Waters Christmas” on December 9th. Mark those calendars!!!
Individual tickets to both shows are NOT yet available but can be purchased as part of a Seattle Theatre Group Season Subscription but you only need to pick THREE shows to see to get a subscription so it’s a good deal. In addition to these two shows, there are many other great options including PENN & TELLER, LEWIS BLACK, the hunky WELL STRUNG quartet, and/or one of the Broadway Across America musicals for the upcoming season.
Do it!
