Hey, Big Spender….Happy “Day Before Black Friday” Feast Day!

November 27, 2014• byMichael Strangeways

I was gonna post the clip of the original Broadway cast of “Promises, Promises” performing the immortal Michael Bennett choreographed/Burt Bacharach & Hal David penned hit “Turkey Lurkey Time” but I’ve posted it before to honor this Day of Thanks and Turkey Consuming and I hate to repeat myself.

However, I do adore musicals of the late 60s with snappy tunes and gorgy costumes so here’s a clip from the Bob Fosse directed/choreographed film “Sweet Charity” featuring the Cy Coleman & Dorothy Fields hit number, “Hey, Big Spender” which features the awesome Chita Rivera, Paula Kelly and the female taxi dancers doing their best to lure some john to dance with them while wearing deliciously yummy cocktail dresses designed by Edith Head.

It will put you into the spending mood for tomorrow!

And, deliciously thankful wishes for all your readership and adoration…without you, we are nothing.

Have a safe and loving Thanksgiving Weekend!

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
