Turkey Schmurkey…We J’adore The Ham For The Holidays!

Which is our clever opening sentence sort of way of introducing our annual rave/plug for y’all to to go see the two and only LISA KOCH and PEGGY PLATT, aka DOS FALLOPIA, the divine Seattle comedy duo that’s been delighting us (and the country) since the Nixon Administration. These funny ladies tour the country but they’re best known locally for their inspired annual holiday show, HAM FOR THE HOLIDAYS which returns to the Falls Theatre at ACT for the second year in a row after years down at the Theatre Off Jackson.

The 2014 edition of “Ham” is subtitled “Fear The Bacon” and features your favorite Dos Fallopia/Ham characters including the Sequim Gay Men’s Chorus and the insane country/western, mother/daughter duo, “The Spuds” offering their version of The Nativity. Lisa, Peggy and the Ham Gang are a must see holiday event….it’s like someone put SCTV, Carol Burnett and Auntie Mame into a huge comedy blender. Here’s all the poo:

Who:  Tongueinchic Productions / ACT Central Heating Lab

Where:  ACT, Falls Theatre, 700 Union Street, Downtown Seattle

When:  December 4 -21, 2014

Tickets:  $15-40; Available to ACTPass holders. Now on sale:  (206) 292-7676 or www.acttheatre.org

Ham for the Holidays contains adult humor and themes. It is recommended for ages 14+.

Directed by David Hunter Koch, the long-running cult series (think Carol Burnett on crack) has found a hammy holiday home at ACT’s Falls Theatre, in collaboration with the Central Heating Lab.  Platt and Koch create an evening chock full of wickedly funny social satire, musical parody, and redonkulous characters.

Ham features performances by Platt, Koch, Michael Oaks, and musical director D.J. Gommels. The creative team includes Robert J. Aguilar (Set/Lighting), Candace Frank (Costumes), Robin Macartney (Props/Set), Akemi Hart (Wigs), and Lisa Koch (Sound/Video).

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
