Prediction: Hot Rumor For Pride 2015 Will Be The Presence Of The “B-52s” on June 28

The B-52s come to BECU ZooTunes on Seattle Pride Sunday, June 28!!!

The B-52s come to BECU ZooTunes on Seattle Pride Sunday, June 28!!!

“BECU ZooTunes presented by Carter Subaru” just announced their line-up for Summer 2015 and there are several “usual suspects” listed, including the return of Indigo Girls, (it just wouldn’t be summer w/o them!), not to mention the double feature of Melissa Etheridge AND Blondie, together at last (?) plus Ziggy Marley, and Kenny Loggins, and Emmylou Harris and many other delightful stars from our young adulthood (if you’re between 40 and 65…wait! Make that upper limit 75 because The Doobie Brothers are coming!!)

BUT, there’s one name on that list that’s really gonna create some buzz….the beloved, alt-rock band from Athens, Georgia, the very queer icons, The B-52s will be hitting the Woodland Park Zoo lawn for a big show…on Sunday, June 28, 2015.

That’s Seattle Pride Sunday.

Granted, the Zootunes show is in the evening and geared towards us “elder folk” who grew up with the band in the 80s, but you just KNOW that SOMEONE is gonna start the murmur:

“I wonder if any/all of the B-52s will march in the Pride Parade or make an appearance at PrideFest?”

Ooops! I guess I just started a murmur!!!

Everyone thought Cher was gonna pop up in the Pride Parade last year (which was dumb because Cher does NOT appear in direct sunlight….) and she didn’t, but some OTHER stars did sneak into the parade, including local boy done good, Macklemore, and sneaky diva Cyndi Lauper who apparently rode along with the 5th Avenue Theatre contingent to promote her then upcoming show, Kinky Boots.

So, who knows? Maybe the B-52s WILL make an appearance at Pride…or, perhaps just Fred Schneider. He is, after all, a buddy of our Jinkxy Poo Monsoon and appeared on her “Inevitable Album”. He’s a friend of the Emerald City, right? (Crosses fingers ’cause we want Fred to perform “Monster in my Pants” at some point that day!)

Here’s the rest of the ZooTunes line-up:

June 19 – The Doobie Brothers with special guest Pat Simmons Jr.
June 28 – The B-52s
July 12 – Indigo Girls
July 21 – Melissa Etheridge & Blondie
July 22 – Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers
July 26 – “Sweet Harmony Soul” featuring Mavis Staples, Patty Griffin & Amy Helm
July 29 – Emmylou Harris & Rodney Crowell
August 9 – Ziggy Marley
August 16 – Trampled By Turtles & The Devil Makes Three
August 19 – Kenny Loggins

Tickets for “BECU ZooTunes presented by Carter Suburu” go on sale this Friday, April 24. Snatch them up HERE!!
