Seattle Mourns The Death of Drag Star La Saveona Hunt/Jaquan Price

September 20, 2022• byMichael Strangeways

Seattle area LGBTQ+ social media blew up on Monday, September 19th with the news that beloved local drag star/athlete La Saveona Hunt aka Jaquan Price had passed away.

Details haven’t been released as to cause of death.

A Go Fund Me has been created by Taylor Narvasa to source funds for a “celebration of life”. Go to https://www.gofundme.com/f/jaquans-aka-la-saveonas-celebration-of-life to donate.

Taylor had this to say on the Go Fund Me about La Saveona/Jaquan:

How does one summarize THE La Saveona Hunt? I could go on for hours about Jaquan’s impact on Seattle, the Pacific Northwest, and the drag and volleyball worlds at large. But in short, whether you knew him as Jaquan, La Saveona, or LaLa, to know him was to love him.

Jaquan was a person of many talents: a gifted dancer, track athlete, basketball player, choreographer, drag queen, volleyball player, but most of all, an outstanding and passionate person. Likewise, LaLa will be remembered for her boisterous laugh, beaming smile, hunger for life, and being the center and life of every party.

Although his light shone much too short, it’s undeniable that Jaquan’s light was a bright beacon within the LGBTQIA+ community. He touched thousands of lives, and his legacy will be felt for generations to come.

A toast to Jaquan/La Saveona!

Salud!

But, not necessarily in that order.
