The Wildrose Turns 38!

December 30, 2022• byMichael Strangeways

Seattle’s beloved lesbian owned bar, THE WILDROSE, is turning 38 years old on Friday, December 30th and they want you to bop on by and party like it’s 1984! Which should be fun because 1984 had a stack of super hit songs from the likes of Prince, Lionel Richie, Culture Club and Bruce Springsteen plus was the big debut year of Cyndi Lauper and Madonna!

It’s your chance to honor and celebrate one of the few remaining lesbian bars in the country…support them!!!

DJ Ricki Leigh will be turning out those hit songs and ’80s attire is encouraged…think dayglo and big hair!

You can also check out The Wildrose’s new menu…it’s very much NOT from the ’80s! It’s very modern with its meat, cheese, hummus and pickle tray options….no one was eating pickles in the 1980s!

Well…some of us were….

THEN, you can ring in the New Year at the ‘rose on Saturday with their NYE Dance Party, again with DJ Ricki Leigh.

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
