Music To Check Out: Wreckno At The Showbox

February 1, 2024• byMichael Strangeways

We’ve never heard of the out musical artist known as WRECKNO but after spotting their concert listed at The Showbox website and seeing their image, we are more than intrigued by this 27 year old rising star from Michigan.

More intel:

From a small town in Michigan to being called one of “electronic music’s brightest rising stars” — Wreckno has continued to create a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community in the Bass Music/EDM genre. The 27 year old queer rapper/producer/DJ has had an impressive year: landing the cover of DJ Mag North America; premiering a mini documentary with Billboard; playing landmark events such as Bonnaroo, Electric Forest, Lollapalooza; label releases with iconic brands such as Four Loko; and music featured in Fortnite and NBC Peacock’s “Queer As Folk.” Wreckno’s pronouns are he/they/she.

Wreckno performs February 23rd at the downtown Showbox with opening acts Zen Selekta and So Sus. Tickets at: https://www.axs.com/events/520540/wreckno-tickets

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
