Seattle’s NHL hockey team the KRAKEN will be celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride Night on Thursday, March 28th at Climate Pledge Arena in a game versus…well, I don’t know who. Does it matter?
(It’s the Anaheim Ducks…you can snag tickets to the game at: https://www.nhl.com/kraken/tickets/single-game#march-single)
And, for this year’s Pride, there’ll be new jersey designs from artist Nikita Ares. You can also participate in the game day silent auction to bid on Kraken gear at https://onerooffoundation.org/get-involved/anchorauction/
You can also buy the jerseys at Kraken Team Stores and online.
Info on the design:
Nikita describes her work as full of movement, energy, and consciousness. The primary and secondary logos are both inspired by the vibrant colors and inclusivity of the LGBTQ+ community.
The S logo embraces a vibrant color palette, including shades of the rainbow to symbolize diversity and pride. The secondary anchor has been transformed into a heart and rainbow to emphasize unity and support within the hockey community.
Deets on the auction below:
Anchor Auction is the game-day silent auction that gives fans the chance to bid on exclusive Kraken gear, signed items, and experiences throughout the season. Every dollar goes back to our community and helps One Roof Foundation achieve our vision of a world where all kids have a roof over their heads, access to play, and clean air to breathe.
Unless otherwise indicated, auctions open 30 minutes before doors open the day of each game, and end 2 hours after the game’s start time. So, for a 7:00pm game, Anchor Auction will open at 5:00pm and close automatically at 9:00pm. All times are listed in the Pacific time zone.
The Kraken will also donate $32,000 in honor of DeAunte Damper and the Lavender Rights Project, “an organization committed to providing life-saving legal and social services for Black gender diverse communities in Washington State and beyond.”
The Kraken are proud to welcome the Seattle Pride Hockey Association (SPHA) to our intermission game on Pride Night presented by Symetra. The Seattle Pride Hockey Association is committed to promoting and advocating for diversity and inclusiveness in the Pacific Northwest ice hockey community.
There’ll also be a DJ and two local LGBTQ+ businesses will be Frelard Tamales & Pride Tape. Details on that at: https://www.nhl.com/kraken/news/small-business-spotlight-pride
Sadly, it’s unlikely you’ll see nude hockey player butt. And, Mr. Michael Ontkean will not be present.
