Black Trans Comedy Showcase Returns To The Egyptian

June 2, 2024• byMichael Strangeways

It’s become a popular annual event apparently as Lavender Rights Project once again produces their BLACK TRANS COMEDY SHOWCASE on Saturday, June 8th at 6:30pm at SIFF Cinema’s Egyptian on Capitol Hill. Lavender Rights has produced this show for the last two years and Seattle comedy lovers ate it up. It returns with hostess TS Madison along with comedians Sunkee Angel, Quei Tann, and Mx Dahlia Belle.

A tad more info:

Join us for another night of laughter, community, and resistance at Lavender Rights Project’s Black Trans Comedy Showcase 2024 fundraiser! As we begin to kick off this pride season, we are reminded of how acts of resistance have always existed alongside the joys of communion on this quest toward liberation.

Be with us on this night of conjuring joy, community building, and laughing until we cry (for good reason), all the while raising funds to secure housing, legal protections, and the overall well-being of Black trans life in Washington State and beyond! A delicious meal will be provided by a community catering favorite, raffle prizes, opportunities to interact with performers (bring yall’s tips!), and so much more! Last year’s tickets sold out so…you know what to do!

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
