Seattle Women’s Chorus Ready For A Trip To The Moon

Frankly, we could all use a trip away from the daily horrors unleashed by the Musk Trump Regime so what better wasy to escape than by taking a musical journey with Seattle Women’s Chorus on February 23rd? Fly Me to the Moon: Seattle Women’s Chorus Sings The Great American Songbook comes to Benaroya Hall on Sunday, February 23rd for two big concerts at 1pm and 5pm.

The women of the SWC will regale audiences with beloved songs from the great American songwriters from the golden era of 20th century songwriting. You know….brilliant tunes with terrific and clever lyrics! Like they used to write! And, of course the songs are all written or made famous by female artists like Etta James, Eartha Kitt and Natalie Cole.

 Take a step back in time and savor classic melodies as the Seattle Women’s Chorus celebrates the influential female artists of The Great American Songbook.

The one-day-only Seattle Women’s Chorus concert includes 22 popular songs and jazz standards from the early 20th century all written or made famous by women, including “Get Happy,” “My Funny Valentine,” and “What a Wonderful World.” Video storytelling will illuminate the performances.

“This concert showcases the timeless appeal of these beloved classics and celebrates the groundbreaking contributions of talented and influential female singers and songwriters who shaped this rich musical legacy,” said Paul Caldwell, Artistic Director of Seattle Women’s Chorus. “Their artistry and resilience continue to inspire us, and we can’t wait to bring their stories and songs to life on stage.”

“We’re excited for audiences to experience the Seattle Women’s Chorus’ celebration of the Great American Songbook,” said Craig Coogan, Executive Director of Seattle Women’s Chorus. “This timeless music has a unique ability to connect us all, and the talent and passion of the Chorus will bring these classic songs to life in a way that’s both nostalgic and fresh.”

The internationally renowned Seattle Women’s Chorus (founded in 2002) and Seattle Men’s Chorus (founded in 1979) together make one of the largest community choral organizations in North America, and stand out among the largest LGBTQIA-identified choruses in the world. Seattle Men’s Chorus and Seattle Women’s Chorus comprise one of the Pacific Northwest’s most vibrant music organizations, performing in Seattle’s most prestigious venues. Audiences from around Puget Sound and worldwide hear the chorus’ music live and on their video channels. Collectively, there are more than 450 singing members, along with staff and volunteers who support both Seattle Men’s Chorus and Seattle Women’s Chorus. They are a leading voice for the LGBTQIA+ community and offer both outreach events and main-stage concert performances annually.
