Roq La Rue Announces Grand ReOpening For March 14th!

February 15, 2025• byMichael Strangeways

Our favorite Seattle art gallery has announced its grand reopening!!! Roq La Rue, the fun modern art gallery has showcased so many brilliant contemporary artists over the years and have done so at a great many locations ranging from Belltown to Capitol Hill to Madison Valley. Now, they’re ready to move into their biggest space yet and they’re back to being in Belltown (well, sorta adjacent-ish) at 117 W. Denny Way in Northwest Work Lofts! Their big opening day party is happening Friday, March 14th!!

Their opening show is Spectacle Du Petite. Artist for this show include: Syd Bee, Lindsey Carr, Jean Labourdette, Femke Hiemstra, Ryan Heshka, John Brophy, Camille Rose Garcia,  Kris Kuksi,  Kari-Lise Alexander, Dewi Plass, Debra Baxter, Scott Musgrove, Amy Sol, Hallie Packard, Jason Puccinelli, Ego, Dana Blume, Rand Babcock, Sarah Best, Brad Woodfin, Jed Dunkerley, Ian “Bub” Davis, and Chil Mott.

More:

Roq La Rue has undergone many transformations in our 28 years! That’s just part of keeping a business vital and engaging, staying deft and willing to pivot to support a gallery in a turbulent art scene and keep yourself enchanted with it.

We are so excited for our latest incarnation- with a move into our biggest exhibition space yet, opening Friday, March 14th! Between this and the addition of Kari-Lise Alexander as our new gallery director, we plan to achieve some great things with our artists.

But additionally, this new gallery, tucked away off street, is meant to be an art oasis. A quiet place to escape the frenetic energy of well, *everything*, and to spend time looking at paintings and sculptures, perusing art books, and just being in a lovely space where the greatest parts of humanity, the arts, is on full display. Right now it’s chaos, but we see something beautiful just around the corner…

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
