We love Dads!
And, although it’s over a month until it’s actually Father’s Day, you can celebrate all kinds of “dads” at Washington Ensemble Theatre’s latest production now onstage at 12th Avenue Arts on Capitol Hill. It’s DADS, a new work by the Drama Tops, the queer performance duo of Elby Brosch and Shane Donohue who have been making interesting theater works in Seattle for several years now.
It’s a movement based piece described as “a holesome, sci-fi dreamscape about fatherhood” and it opened April 24th and runs weekends though May 10th and you can snag tickets at https://washingtonensemble.org/drama-tops/

More to know about DADS and Drama Tops:
Drama Tops’ newest Queer Tragedy, “DADS,” is a holesome, sci-fi dreamscape about fatherhood that is guaranteed to blow your mind and stick with you for years.
In “DADS”, Elby and Shane are confronted with the largest demon they have yet to face, their purpose. This deeply existential and heartfelt dance odyssey between two platonic lovers interrogates queer culture and Elby and Shane’s relationships to their fathers, all while trying to figure out their role in making the world a better place.
They grip each other as they gasp for air. They dive head first into the chaotic waters of grief, and loss, as they sift through the sands of death and distance on the shores of masculinity. They bump. They grind. They fail to procreate.
So, slap on your leather, steal Daddy’s credit card, and buy tickets to “DADS.”
Washington Ensemble Theatre is thrilled to present this original work by Drama Tops. Drama Tops was born with the artistic partnership of Elby Brosch and Shane Donohue. They began making work together seven years ago with the creation of a solo on two bodies. The dynamic between their trans body and cis body has created beautiful moments of frustration, competition, tenderness, and comedy. Drama Tops blends the worlds of nightlife and concert modern dance to create an interesting and unique blend of accessible, funny modern dance. You may have seen the Drama Tops perform in their smash hit “Boys! Boys! Boys!” presented by Velocity Dance Center’s Made in Seattle program, their self produced show, “Drama Tops, this is for you”, at Washington Hall, at On the Boards in Northwest New Works, at Velocity in Fall Kick Off, at Kremwerk in Family Meal and Catharsis, in Heels! At Cha Cha, Sissy Butch, High F@ggotry, and more.
DADS runs April 24th- May 10th at 12th Ave Arts.
