Orville Peck Swings Into Thing Festival August 2nd

July 28, 2025• byMichael Strangeways

Orville Peck fans in the greater Seattle Metroplex have been disappointed a time or two. The out gay country crooner has been booked here a few times but things have happened to cancel some of those appearances…one of them was Covid and another was “exhaustion” but hopefully contagious diseases and overwork are being held at bay long enought for Mr. Peck and his mask to take the stage at Remlinger Farms on Saturday August 2nd for Day One of this year’s THING FESTIVAL produced by Seattle Theatre Group.

Orville DID just wrap up a successful turn on Broadway as the Emcee in “Cabaret” but hopefully he’s taken a few days to chillax so he’ll be fresh as a daisy to join the terrific line-up scheduled to appear on the 2nd. THING 2025 was originally scheduled to take place on each Saturday in August but sadly the third week show was canceled due to our fractious political climate…the third weekend was to feature Latin performers but out of fear that the slimy Immigration Nazis might target talent/audience for raids, led STG to sadly cancel that show.

More about Thing below and get tickets at: https://www.stgpresents.org/events/thing/

THING, the eclectic and intimate all-ages music festival that celebrates creativity, fellowship, and music appreciation has a new look for 2025!  THING has been reimagined as four single day events that will unfold on the first four Saturdays in August— each day with its own curated lineup of artists. Enjoy music discovery—an intrinsic part of the THING experience—and pick your own “thing” by curating a unique festival schedule! Attend all four dates or pick and choose the ones that call to you most. THING will return for its second year to Seattle Theatre Group’s outdoor venue at Remlinger Farms, in Carnation, Wash. Children 12 and under are free!

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
