Over the weekend Three Dollar Bill Cinema released the trailer for the 16th annual Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival…check it out, and you might recognize a certain local gaylebrity as “Tranny Poppins” in the very beginning…
We love the trailer, though we’re not sure how many lesbian-centric Westerns we’ve seen lately (it’s been a LOOOOONG time since Johnny Guitar) or gay war films. If it was my decision to make, I would have dumped the Western and replaced it with a scene from a period film; a good old fashioned clinch between two ladies in bustles and two hunks in straw hats and spats…very Merchant Ivory. And, there should have been a scene from a typical goofy gay sex comedy, the most common gay film genre of all. Either that, or some yearning coming out story, but that would have been a more difficult to visualize.
And, hats off to Loaded Pictures and Frank Unlimited Advertising for such a beautiful trailer…the production values are amazing.
In other news, ticket sales are now open to EVERYONE for the SLGFF (meaning you don’t have to be a member of Three Dollar Bill Cinema, though we heartily recommend you become one; you get a nice discount on the ticket prices.) Check out the SLGFF website and start picking your films and/or buying a pass.
And, stay tuned for HUGE coverage of the Festival…we’ll be taking a look at all the films and parties in the weeks leading up to the opening on Friday, October 14, 2011 with the Gala Opening screening of Dirty Girl and the huge gala party at Fred Wildlife Refuge.
