Yes…how else do you remember a beloved experience unless you take lots and lots of awful cell phone photos AND buy some lovely branded merchandise! The clever cleavers at the 2nd Annual ‘Mo Wave Queer Arts Festival which is a VERY short period of time away…April 10-18, have some lovely merch this year. A cute tote and a handsome t-shirt and you can buy both of them over at their Bandcamp shop….proceeds help support ‘Mo Wave which is largely centered on music events at Chop Suey from April 11-13 but also includes visual art exhibits and a dance recital. Go buy tickets!
‘Mo Wave kicks off on Thursday, April 10 at True Love Art Gallery, 1525 Summit with a delicious art show chock full of queer art from queerer artists including Brian Britigan, Frank Correa, Zackary Drucker, Frederique Fluery, Michael Horwitz, MKNZ, Narcissister, Slava Mogutin and Brian Kenny.
For those of you in the know, (ie read Butt Magazine) SLAVA MOGUTIN is a fascinating Russian born writer, artist and photographer known for his provocative, boundary pushing work. Also: for his tendency to get naked.
And, we’re HUGE fans of the adorable Portland artist MICHAEL HORWITZ who’s been to Seattle to sketch at some Nark Magazine events. If you’re Facebook friends of Mr. Horwitz, you’re well aware that he’s not only a uniquely talented artist, but he’s a witty storyteller as well. His posts about life with his boyfriend, the poet Walt Whitman are quirky, original and charming as fuck. We can’t wait to see what he’s bringing up for the ‘Mo Wave show. Go check out his awesome Tumblr page!
The other artists are also undoubtedly brilliant and amazing as well. However, I’m not prepared to lavish as much love on them at this time…they’ll get their turn. In the meanwhile, check them out over at the ‘Mo Wave page for the event.
It will be a Springtime Festival of Queerness to Remember and Cherish FOREVER!
But, buying a shirt will guarantee it. Go do so…now.
