Oh dear…it’s that time of year again: OSCAR SEASON! Time to dust off the tuxedo and catch up with all the films you’ve missed seeing so you don’t look dumb when you go to Oscar Parties…and, you especially don’t wanna look dumb at the 7th Annual Academy Awards Party put on by Three Dollar Bill Cinema and Gay City Health Project. There will be a lot of movie nerds who really know how to handicap Oscar pools. And, once again, the party is happening at the gorgeous Cinerama so you can revel in all that lovely chic 1960’s inspired coolness. PLUS, the delightfully talented Jinkx Monsoon will be the hostess for the festivities…and she LOVES the movies! Or at least the ones with show tunes in them…
Here’s the skinny on the event in yet ANOTHER well written press release…
SEATTLE – February 14, 2012 – Join Seattle’s glitterati in their support of two of the area’s most prominent nonprofits. Three Dollar Bill Cinema and Gay City Health Project are proud to roll out the red carpet for their 7th Annual Academy Awards Party Sunday, February 26 at the Seattle Cinerama.
Party-goers will be treated to the complete Hollywood experience with a red carpet, hors d’oeuvres, decadent drinks, raffle prizes, free popcorn and soda throughout the night, all while watching Hollywood’s biggest stars on the biggest screen in town. Note: This is a 21 and over event as alcohol will be available at a cash bar.
“People haven’t dubbed this the ‘Gay Superbowl’ for nothing,” says Jason Plourde, Three Dollar Bill Cinema’s Programming Director. “I think this may be the best group of people to experience the night with, and the most spectacular screen to watch it on.”
The fabulous Jinkx Monsoon, star of Le Faux is the evening’s special host.
“I’m thrilled that Three Dollar Bill Cinema and Gay City invited me to host this classy event,” Jinkx Monsoon enthuses. “I’m doing my best not to be bitter that I wasn’t nominated this year. Fasten your seat belts, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.”
“Gay City is proud to continue our partnership with Three Dollar Bill Cinema on such a fun and fabulous party,” adds Gay City Executive Director Fred Swanson. “It’s not only a great opportunity to watch the Academy Awards, it’s a great opportunity to support two of Seattle’s leading LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) nonprofits.”
Jason Plourde agrees. “Partnering with our friends at Gay City for this event guarantees two important things: a great party and support for great causes.”
