Some upsetting news to report. KOMO radio and television reporter and anchor Eric Slocum committed suicide on February 25th, 2012 after a long battle with depression. The Texas native had worked as a Seattle broadcaster from 1991 to 2008 before leaving the air to work on a memoir:
The memoir had a working title “In Danger” and was meant to chronicle how Slocum has dealt with alcoholism. He became sober in 1993 but told the P-I in 2008 that he wanted the memoir to address his struggle with obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression and his decision to come out as a gay man.
Mr. Slocum was also a poet and left a final post on his poetry website, the hauntingly named, The Eternity Door:
