_________________________________
Laverne Cox is coming to the UW campus. She is known most recently for her groundbreaking role of “Sophia Burset,” an incarcerated African American transgender woman, on the Netflix original series Orange is the New Black. Laverne is the first trans woman of color to have a leading role on a mainstream scripted television show. In addition to being a critically acclaimed actress, she is an empowering speaker. She has travelled the country speaking about moving beyond gender expectations to live more authentically. Meet us at the HUB Ballroom on May 5th to hear her story.
