How we chose our legislative priorities:
In Allyship’s 2015 LGBTQ Safety Survey, we asked our community to identify solutions to increasing public safety and 64% stated increasing affordable housing as a key component to increasing LGBTQ public safety. 73% of Seattle survey participants were renters, 68% of participants lived paycheck to paycheck or worse, 63% have recently experienced a safety issue and 74% of participants identified as transgender, bisexual or queer. Our survey found that LGBTQ seniors, youth, low-income, transgender, women and People of Color are disproportionately impacted by a lack of affordable and low-income housing in Seattle and throughout the state. In 2016, we will fight for the state’s most marginalized LGBTQ folks in Olympia — we hope you will take action with us!
