It’s Not Too Late To Support Saturday’s Lifelong “END AIDS WALK”

You can easily support Saturday’s END AIDS WALK here in Seattle by showing up and/or donating to the cause to end AIDS. This year is the 30th Anniversary of the AIDS Walk, and frankly, we hope we don’t really need to do this much longer…

Wouldn’t it be awesome if we don’t need to have a 35th or 40th AIDS Walk?

Help make that dream a reality by supporting this year’s END AIDS WALK. Go here to donate and more info down below. Aleksa Manila hosts the finish line for this year’s event plus KING 5’s Margaret Larson will be on hand plus Mayor Ed Murray and Washington State Senator Jamie Pedersen.

Date:
Saturday, September 24, 2016 – 9:00am
Location:
Volunteer Park Seattle

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the End AIDS Walk in Seattle! Join us on Saturday, September 24th for this family (and pup) friendly 5K walk and run at Capitol Hill’s Volunteer Park. Includes a bustling beer & mimosa garden, local celebrities, music, and more! This community event attracts thousands of participants every year, and helps Lifelong raise much-needed funds to support HIV prevention and care services. Remember, it’s not over yet.

Historically AIDS Walks were held to honor lives lost by the disease and walk in hope for a cure. Times have changed over the past 30 years. Medical advances have changed our fight against HIV and AIDS. Today we care for the health and well-being of individuals living with the disease and help them live the fullest life possible. We also know that increased testing and treatment can prevent new infections, which is why we provide education and outreach to communities at greatest risk of infection. Changing the name of our walk to the End AIDS Walk is about celebrating the ultimate finish line—knowing that a day without new infections is near.

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
