How the Light Gets In: A Celebration of Leonard Cohen
December 22, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
This event is sold out. A limited number of standby line tickets may be available night-of. After this last year, and these recent weeks, many of us are consciously seeking community, and guidance on how to move forward in a world that seems riven by loss. Leonard Cohen passed away on November 7, the night before the election and just weeks after the release of his latest record “You Want it Darker.” His work is shot through with themes of loss and grief, renewal and resolve. How The Light Gets In is both a tribute to Cohen and a reflection on our capacity for renewal. Through songs by Cohen and texts on his themes we will come together for an evening of community mourning and collective hope. Performers include Ben Gibbard, Kimya Dawson, Tomo Nakayama, Sean Nelson, Kevin Murphy, Bradford Loomis, Taryn Dorsey, Ings, Cynthia Alexander, Amy Blaschke, and others to be announced soon. “There is a crack in everything” Cohen once said. “That’s how the light gets in—the light is the capacity to reconcile your experience, your sorrow, with every day that dawns.”
Suggested ticket price is $10, with proceeds to benefit the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project.
