Step Afrika! founder, C. Brian Williams, will be on hand to offer insight into the construction of this dance, inspired by Lawrence and the Great Migration.
Step Afrika! blends percussive dance styles practiced by historically African American fraternities and sororities, African traditional dance and influences from a variety of other dance and art forms. Their newest work, The Migration: Reflections on Jacob Lawrence was co-commissioned by Meany Center for the Performing Arts, and will be performed at Meany Hall on February 16-18 at 8pm.
