Live Wire is like late-night for radio. Come experience being in the live audience as Luke Burbank converses with:
DAN SAVAGE
Don’t expect Dan Savage to sugar-coat things. The writer for The Stranger’s internationally syndicated sex and relationship advice column, Savage Love, Savage is an LGBT advocate and activist, author of four books, podcast host, and founder of the It Gets Better movement geared toward preventing suicide among LGBT teens and youth. Savage has made a name for himself as a real force for good, but that doesn’t mean he’s saccharine. Known for his brutal honesty and scathing commentary, Savage might be here to give a helping hand, but that doesn’t mean he’s pulling any punches.
JESSI KLEIN
Jessi Klein is a comedian– head writer and executive producer of Comedy Central’s Inside Amy Schumer, panelist on NPR’s Wait, Wait…Don’t Tell Me!, storyteller on The Moth; she’s famously funny. She has a new book out, You’ll Grow Out Of It, and she’s been called this generation’s Nora Ephron. But comedian doesn’t do justice to her work as a feminist, thinker, participant in the discourse. Just because Klein is here to do the good work doesn’t mean she won’t make us laugh along the way.
ATTORNEY GENERAL BOB FERGUSON
Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson is the king of calculated risks, the hero of the hard-fought battle, and a former chess champion. He’s never lost an election (onto King County Council and two terms as Attorney General). He’s known for his high profile civil rights cases against those in power, and has recently gotten national attention for having spearheaded the legal blocks to the EO travel bans. He’s a heavy-hitter, a straight-talker, and the man Washingtonians are sending to bat.
AYRON JONES
When Sir Mix-a-Lot calls you “easily the best talent in Seattle,” you must be doing something right. Ayron Jones, then, of Ayron Jones and The Way, is doing a lot right. His music is a little rock, a little blues, pretty grunge, and all fresh. With his new album Audio Paint Job due out June 2nd on Sunyata Records, following his highly lauded first release, Dream, Jones is riding high as one of the top rock artists of the Northwest. Catch him on the Live Wire stage and at this year’s Upstream Music Festival.
