Free Self Defense Workshop
Sunday, April 9, 1-3 pm
Seven Star Women’s Kung Fu
(All genders welcome)
Always Queer, Always Free.
A free, self defense workshop for the queer community. Come learn basic self defense skills for keeping you and your community safe.
In this workshop, we will learn techniques and strategies to protect ourselves and others in a safe and supportive environment. We will explore verbal and physical self-defense situations and practice tapping into the power of our bodies and voices.
This class will be hands-on, we will be working on pads and on bodies. No prior experience needed. Please wear comfortable clothing.
The mission of this workshop is to create a space to support people experiencing violence and lack of safety, as well those dedicated to anti-racist and anti-fascist organizing and activism. It is designed to provide resources and is in direct opposition to models of safety that increase policing in our neighborhoods and communities.
To attend, please RSVP to adrienleavitt@gmail.com. This class is limited to 30 people. An email RSVP is required in order to reserve a spot in the class.
Childcare is available upon request, but space is limited. Please include this information in your RSVP if needed, including the ages of the kids.
This event will also be a fundraiser for NWDC Resistance, a grassroots organization supporting those facing deportation inside the Northwest Detention Center. If able, we are collecting donations to support NWDC Resistance’s work.
** This event is open to all genders.
** To access Seven Star Women’s Kung Fu, there is one step up at the front door, and two steps up to the bathroom. This is not a scent-free environment, but we will make every effort to encourage attendees to be scent-free.
