The Violent Years
February 8, 2018 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
From the mind of Edward D. Wood, Jr, director of Plan 9 From Outer Space and Glen or Glenda, comes the gonzo, delirious girl gang thrill-killers of The Violent Years. Written by Wood and newly restored by the American Genre Film Archive, this is the story of a good-girl-gone-bad who leads her degenerate teen hellcats down a path of gas station hijackings, pajama party orgies and cold-blooded murder. From Wood’s patently deranged dialogue to the scene where the gang performs a “man attack,” The Violent Years is an essential B-movie exposé on crime, gender politics, and sweater-stealing.
In addition to the feature, we’ll also be showing a collection of the best teen delinquency trailers of the era, and Something Weird’s Lisa Petrucci will be joining us for for an introduction about the history and restoration of this cult move gem.
