University Book Store and The UW School of Law Presents Sonia Sotomayor
University Book Store is honored to welcome back U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, moderated by UW President Ana Marie Cauce and presented by Mario L. Barnes, the Toni Rembe Dean & Professor of Law, to celebrate the release of her two new children’s books, Turning Pages: My Life Story and The Beloved World of Sonia Sotomayor.
Through her life story, beginning in the South Bronx and leading toward her appointment to the Supreme Court, Sotomayor encourages “children with dreams” to read widely and pursue their ambitions. Her picture book Turning Pages, illustrated by Lulu Delacre, portrays how Sotomayor’s family, her determination, and her love of books gave her the tools to realize her dreams. The Beloved World of Sonia Sotomayor is the middle grade adaption of her #1 New York Times bestselling memoir, My Beloved World. By sharing her experiences with a younger audience, Justice Sotomayor hopes to inspire ambition, empathy, and a love of reading in the leaders of tomorrow.
Sotomayor will answer a selection of pre-submitted questions during the Q & A portion of the event. Please submit your questions in advance, through the comments field of Brown Paper tickets.
SOTOMAYOR WILL BE SIGNING BOOKS AFTER THE EVENT.
You must have a copy of one of the three books TURNING PAGES, PASANDO PAGINAS, and THE BELOVED WORLD OF SONIA SOTOMAYOR to enter the signing line. Books may be purchased online with your ticket and will also be made available for you to buy at the event.
