Rainbow City Band: Playing Games!
January 25, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
As we continue our 2019 Be the Light Season, we celebrate all the ways we, as humans, play! Our Artistic Director Timothy V. Norris Jr. says “Play is such a fundamental part of our lives and exists in our communities and societies in such important functions. Play animates us as children. Play transforms our sorrow into joy. Play unites people of different backgrounds through collaborative goals. Play transports us to places we could only dream of. I want this concert to show how play brings light to so many of our worlds!”
With our concert, Playing Games, the RCPA Concert band will perform music that explores different forms of play, from athletic events, video games, jam sessions through music and dance, to games we played as children in our backyards. All of it presented with a bit of a twist, as we partner with Puzzle Break Seattle and Ada Developer’s Academy.
This will be our first ever puzzle room concert. As an audience member you will be able to play along as the music, printed programs, lobby tables, and performances, will be integrated with exciting puzzles. You can solve them independently or work with your fellow audience members and musicians to solve them.
We will also be featuring a special telling of the classic story Casey at the Bat as narrated by Amy Roon.
You won’t want to miss this one-of-a-kind concert. We’ll take a break from the chaos, let our inner children out, and just PLAY!
