The gay Canadian country crooner with the whisky baritone and fringed masks, ORVILLE PECK, announced on social media Wednesday that he was pulling out of his summer tour which had opened on Tuesday, June 20th with a sold out show at the Madison Garden Theatre citing concerns over his ‘current mental and physical health”.
This late notice pull out had a ripple effect as event producers scrambled to find late minute replacements for the headliner, including Queer Bar which had booked the singer for a Sunday, June 25th appearance at their huge street Pride event in front of the bar. Peck had originally been booked to appear at Queer Bar for their 2020 festival which ended up being canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Fortunately, Australian born pop diva BETTY WHO was able to take Orville’s spot for the Sunday gig…along with a former hometown diva made good, drag superstar BENDELACREME. An ecstatic Queer Bar posted on Instagram:
“We had a miracle on 11th Ave just a few days before our big festival. We have moved mountains to bring in a new Sunday headliner who we have been pining to book for years! Thankfully, @bettywho said “Yaaas!” and agreed to close out our Sunday night festivities!”
