The divine multi-hyphenate TAYLOR MAC is touring their way back to Seatte with a brand new concert show, Tender Heart Revolution. The show is dropping into Mac’s hometown San Francisco on November 6th then bops up to Seattle Theatre Group’s Moore Theatre on Sunday, November 8th.
Taylor Mac is always breaking new ground with innovative theater pieces that combine music, advocacy, queer history, elaborate dazzling costumes, and in your face audience encounters. Even something as simple as a pronoun, Taylor Mac has to make special. In judy’s own words:
In case you don’t know, my pronoun is judy (only capitalized when at the start of a sentence, like a normal pronoun). A few people have claimed I use it as a joke. They are uninformed. It’s not a joke, which doesn’t mean it isn’t funny. It’s a personalized pronoun for someone whose gender (professionally and personally) is constantly changing. My gender isn’t male or female or non-binary (which oddly creates a binary between people who are non-binary and people who are binary). My gender is “performer” (one day I’ll get it on the passport) and continually changing. It’s also an art piece and as annoying to navigate as it is delicious. You too may change yourself.

The Moore Theatre
Performance artist, writer, director, actor, and singer Taylor Mac is back with a brand-new concert! One Night Only.
One of the great artists of our time, Mac creates fearlessly experimental works that build community through the making of theater. Routinely breaking performance conventions, Mac invites audiences to consider questions of gender, identity, queerness, and performance itself. Mac’s joyful, charismatic, and vulnerable performance style disarms the audience, turning passive spectators into active collaborators.
Raised in Stockton, California, Mac came to San Francisco for the first AIDS march as a teenager in 1983. That influential experience inspired the creation of “A 24-Decade History of Popular Music”, a 24-hour epic performed in its entirety over four performances at the Curran Theatre in September 2017. Mac returned to the Curran with “Holiday Sauce” in 2018 and for a virtual presentation during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
