If the Oscars ain’t your thing, why not “Bowl for Equality”?

February 26, 2011• bySeattle Gay Scene

The Gay Super Bowl is tomorrow evening and while many folks adore and revere that night of Hollywood self-congratulatory excess, an equal number of people could care less. If you’re an Oscar Hater, then you have an option for Sunday afternoon/evening… the 9th Annual Seattle HRC “Bowling for Equality” event is taking place at The Garage on Capitol Hill starting at 3pm. The popular event helps raise money for the Human Right Campaign in their battle to win full equal rights for the LGBTQ community. Here’s the official skinny on the event:

General Admission tickets are $45. Included with your ticket are light appetizers, bowling shoes and 2 hours of bowling along with great entertainment VIP Tickets are $70 and includes gourmet hors d’oeuvres, 1 complimentary drink, free pool within the downstairs VIP bowling lanes and some great raffle prizes While bowling we will have DJs spinning awesome music and the Oscars on the large projection screens! This is an event you can’t miss!

21 & over event

Lane slots are 3:00p, 5:30p & 8:00p.

To purchase advance tickets, go to the HRC website.

We’re of two minds about the timing of this event…is it brilliant counter-programming to the Oscars, or a bad idea? Do they always schedule this event on Oscar Night? We hope it’s a success for them, and we encourage you to check it out if you’re not an award show fan and support HRC.
